I love Valentine’s Day! Not necessarily because of the traditional sweetheart stuff – although that’s nice too, or the flowers and candy-thing. I think one of the silly reasons is that I have always been fond of the colors red and pink together! As Valentine’s Day approaches, things colored red and pink seem to pop up everywhere! When I was a little girl, the room I shared with my sister was painted with red walls and pink walls. (I think three pink and one red?) My mom has always had a very sharp eye for color and particularly color coordination, and our home was full of color and beautiful patterns. I gather that’s why I love all that stuff now.
I also love the little notes the kids share in school. I remember exchanging them when I was a child, and now I love it when it’s that time of year and my kids are selecting their “theme” and writing out their cards. Then when they bring home all the cards they get from their friends, it warms my heart. I’ve always loved putting together the little goodie bags for their classmates too. We did that again last night in preparation for their school Valentine parties today. With my kids growing so fast, right before my eyes, these are traditions I don’t want to let go of just yet.
